Asian Games kabaddi: Sri Lanka women fail to enter semis

Sri Lanka lost to India 38-12 on Tuesday, August 21, in their crucial Group ‘A’ encounter at women’s kabaddi of the 18th Asian Games now on in Indonesia. They thus lost their chances of entering the event’s semi-finals. Women’s kabadi of the Asian Game is held in Theatre Garuda in Jakarta. After a disappointing start in their Group losing to Thailand 41-15 on Sunday, Sri Lanka then recorded two encouraging wins the following day against hosts Indonesia (34-17) as well as Japan (22-17) in a bid to reach the event’s semi-finals. They faced a must-win situation on Tuesday against India to enter the semi-finals and go ahead to win a medal for the country.
