Says he is fine with taking on more challenges and being ‘scolded more’
Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardana, stating that he could contribute more if he were appointed to lead a different ministry, added that he is keen to accept a ministerial portfolio with even more challenges than his current one, as he is accustomed to the pressure.Speaking to the media yesterday (4) regarding his position on the much-discussed possibility of a cabinet reshuffle that is expected to take place soon, he stated: “Any ministry is fine. If the ministry has more challenges, I will get scolded more. I will be keen on accepting such a ministry.”Gunawardana also said that he had ordered for the price of rice to be reduced with immediate effect.“There is inflation, and because the people have been impacted by this, the Minister of Finance introduced a special economic package to the Cabinet last night (3). Go and see for yourself in the market. Earlier a kilo of rice was Rs. 130. Today, I ordered that a kilo of rice was to be sold at Rs. 128,” he stated.
