Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana today requested the people to be aware of fake currency notes that are being circulated.
He said the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested a suspect in Anuradhapura yesterday on charges of printing fake currency notes.
“This is the third incident reported within two weeks related to printing fake currency notes. Fake currencies are being circulated. Therefore, when you are purchasing goods or exchanging money, be careful of fake currency notes and try to identify the real notes by using the identical features in them,” he said.
