The Founder and President of Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL), Emeritus Deshamanya Mineka Wickramasingha passed away today (16).
At his time of demise, he was aged 87 years.
Wickramasingha founded the organisation in 1968 when he presented a proposal to the the Ministry of Education to provide a high protein biscuit to school aged children under the CARE program. The biscuit was developed in-house by the founder using bread flour, soybean oil, milk powder and other limited raw materials available at the time.
