Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have allegedly conducted an investigation at the Sri Lankan Cricket (SLC) headquarters in Maitland Place yesterday (4), sources told the Morning Sports.
One of the main reasons for the sudden inquiry is reported to be on a complaint made on a possible attempt to secretly move some important documents from SLC.
“We are not sure as to what this investigation is about but the CID officers have spent almost six hours at the SLC investigating its IT, CCTV, and the VIP areas while also investigating on certain things inside the rooms of many high-ranked officials of its former ex-co,” a former SLC ex-co member told Morning Sports on the condition of anonymity yesterday.
It was alleged in certain media over the last weekend that a leading official of the previous SLC committee have illegally moved out certain documents from SLC office which are allegedly containing sensitive information.
SLC is currently overseen by a Management Committee chaired by Prof. Arjuna de Silva which also consists of the Director General of the Ministry of Sports Amal Edirisooriya.
The committee is looking after national cricket affairs until the scheduled 20 May Annual General Meeting of SLC.
