CMA CGM container ship towed to Colombo Port due to electrical breakdown

01 Jan 2022

The CMA CGM container ship, serving the Noura Express Line, which was disabled on the 20th of December, 395 nautical miles off the coast of the Maldivian Capital of Male while enroute from Seychelles to Sri Lanka, has now been towed to the Colombo Port due to an electrical breakdown, The Morning learns. Speaking to The Morning, Harbour Master Captain Indika De Silva said that efforts were made to repair the vessel generators off the shore, but proved futile. "The vessel was anchored off the coast of Sri Lanka a couple of days ago and engineers were sent to fix the vessel. Because they were unable to rectify the problem, the container ship had to be towed back to Sri Lanka. There is a problem with the ship's electrical generators and because of that, there is an issue with the electrical supply. The ship was en route from Seychelles to Sri Lanka," said Capt Silva.
