The United National Party (UNP) has invited Leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and the Opposition Sajith Premadasa to return to the UNP.
This invitation was extended to Premadasa at a press conference held yesterday (02). Deputy Leader of the UNP Ruwan Wijewardene and General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara were present.
Referring to the UNP as Premadasa’s Maha Gedara or ancestral home, Bandara urged Premadasa to return.
“Come back to your ancestral home and join us to save the nation from the present crisis. One must not be shy to return to his or her ancestral home,” Range Bandara said.
Bandara also clarified that this was a genuine invitation.
“We would also like to remind you that he got into politics because of his father who was a UNPer. Mr. Premadasa and his sister were able to go abroad for studies as their father was the Prime Minister of the UNP government,” Range Bandara said.
Adding to this, Ruwan Wijewardene claimed that many local government members who joined the SJB have started coming back to the UNP.
