Community Water Supply Plan for Ratnapura

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board discussed the implementation of a community water project for the region of Ratnapura to enhance the Drinking Water Supply Plan for 2021-2025, Deputy Director General, Sabaragamuwa Office, National Water Supply and Drainage Board Ajith Kapuruge told the Morning today (28). “Currently, 65% of Ratnapura’s population has access to drinking water while a further 2% use their own sources. The main point of discussion at the meeting was the community water supply plan for 33% of the remaining population residing in rural areas. We have already taken steps to implement and enhance the community water supply plan,” he stated. A discussion on the Drinking Water Supply Plan 2021-2025 in the Ratnapura District as per the National Plan for Providing Drinking Water to the nation implemented by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board was held at the Sabaragamuwa Office of the Regional Cooperation Center of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board on the 25 September 2020. Former Minister of Sabaragamuwa Province Athula Kumara Rahubadda, Former Sabaragamuwa Provincial Minister Ranjith Bandara and Mayor of Ratnapura Tyrone Attanayake attended the discussion.
