Rajeev Sooriyaarachchi has been appointed the new Chairman of the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA), replacing former MP Duminda Silva, who is serving a prison sentence.
Sooriyaarachchi previously served as the Vice-Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Pvt.) Ltd.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), acting on the order given by the Supreme Court to arrest former MP Duminda Silva, following the special Presidential pardon granted to him by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa being suspended through an interim order, arrested Silva at the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital on 1 June.
