The Police Media Division said the Fort OIC has denied he sent the letter warning of possible terror attacks to several hotels in Colombo.
A letter dated October 02, 2019 which carried the signature of the OIC of the Colombo Fort Police was widely circulated through social media recently.
The letter warns of another possible attack similar to the Easter Sunday attacks according to information received by the State Intelligence Service.
The letter requests selected hotels to submit name lists of customers checking in on a daily basis.
However the The Police Headquarters says the content of the letter is not confirmed by the State Intelligence Service.
According to a press statement by the Police Headquarters an investigation has been launched into the officers who have directed the said letter.
