Gnana Akka's fortune telling doesn't matter anymore, the message of the citizens is load and clear and they want President Gotabaya Rajapaksa out, says Former Parliamentarian and Federation of University Teachers' Association (FUTA) President Wasantha Samarasinghe. He made this statement during a media brief held today (29). "The people of this nation showed the Government what they can do. Busses and trains stopped operating, the port came to a standstill, roads were filled with citizens demanding that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa must leave. We have given him 1 week and if he doesn't step down by then, we will do this again on the 6th of May. Gnana akka's fortune telling doesn't matter anymore, the people want the President out. 80 lakhs of employees are ready to hit the streets again in protest. Government, semi-government and private sector employees are ready," said Samarasinghe. He further added that the Rajapaksa family has now learnt to hide from the people and that this was not the time the do so. "The Rajapaksa family has learnt to hide. This is not the time to hide, this should have been done years ago. The citizens of the nation are now very much aware of what this family has done and they are not blind anymore. After stealing so much from the people, this is not the right thing to do. The people are ready to find you and take back all the stolen money. Leave, but give back all the money that was stolen from us. The youth of Sri Lanka who are protesting at the Galle Face are struggling on behalf of the nation," he stated. Samarasinghe further stated that a massive protest is being planned for the 6th of May and that all parties must support the cause as it is a struggle on behalf of the nation.
