The Chief Incumbent of the Abhayarama temple Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero has questioned whether the Government is a real government or if they are running a comical government, stating that the situation in the country has gone from bad to worse. These statements were made at a press conference held yesterday (08). The Thero had been a firm supporter of the Government in the past, and now questions the Government and the decisions made based on the 'sufferings' of the people, claiming that the people are having food shortages, further stating if the Government is purchasing sugar and re-selling it, then the Government would have concealed stocks in the first place. 'In our country, the stable doors are closed once the horse has bolted', quoted Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero, questioning whether it is 'Gotabaya Rajapaksa' or 'Nandasena Rajapaksa' who is working now - clarifying whether it is the Defense Secretary or President who is calling the shots. Praising the specialists in the industry who have left Government postings with dignity and respect, Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero urged the specialists in pandemic control to distance themselves and not take heed from political authorities, instead to do what is right for the country and its citizens. In conclusion, Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero spoke directly to the President to 'change his path' and to stop being 'Nandsena Rajapaksa' and to be the President the people voted for, who is Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
