28 Mar 2022

Nearly half of the construction work of the Kohuwala flyover has been completed, stated Chief Government Whip and Highways Minister Johnston Fernando. The Minister said so while speaking to the media after a meeting held at the ministry to review the progress of the construction of the Kohuwala flyover being constructed with financial aid from the Minister Fernando and Hungarian Minister of Trade and Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó inaugurated the project on 12 January. The project is envisaged to be completed in July 2023. During the progress review meeting, Project Director Eng. Nalinda Ratnayake said that the project has reported 46% progress so far. The minister instructed officials to expedite their work so that traffic congestion in and around the Kohuwala junction in the 120 bus route would be eased. The overhead bridge would be 297 m in length and 9.4 m in width overarching a four-lane road connecting Nugegoda and Kalubowila controlled by traffic signals.
