The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) has given a month’s notice to the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Hospital (KDUH) in Boralesgamuwa over the complaints made by the residents of the area on health risks due to the hospital incinerator.
CEA Western Province Director H.S. Premachandra told The Morning that all the necessary guidelines have been issued by the authority and that the CEA has given them a month to follow the guidelines.
“Once the one-month period is over, the CEA will evaluate whether they have followed all the necessary guidelines or not, and the license would only (be) issue(d) if it (KDUH) adheres to the regulations,” he stressed.
