Sri Lanka’s legendary spin bowler Muttiah Muralitharan on Wednesday (27) said Rajendran Rajamahendran, the Chairman of the Capital Maharaja Group who passed away on Sunday (25) at the age of 78, was a father-figure to him.
Here is the full message of Muralitharan on the sad demise of Rajamahendran:
Mr. Rajamahendran was a family friend of mine who had been like a father-figure to me. He helped me with lots of advice regarding my cricket when I was starting my career. He did so later in my career too, and also in my business endeavours.
He was always there for me giving guidance and help and I will miss him a lot.

He has done a lot for the country and is one who helped Sri Lanka gain Test status in 1981 along with late Gamini Dissanayake. Mr. Rajamahendran’s passing away is a great loss for this country.
I will be forever grateful for his unforgettable presence in my journey of life.
I want to convey my condolences to the family of Mr. Rajamahendran.
