The restrictions on the use of chemical fertiliser for cultivations will be lifted with the exclusion of paddy, State Minister of Agriculture Shasheendra Rajapaksa said while addressing the media yesterday (20).
“We have promoted paddy cultivations to run on organic fertiliser and to import 3rd and 4th grade fertiliser for the cultivation of vegetables, fruits and export crops,” he said.
The State Minister also added that if issues arise when the entire country transitions to organic fertiliser, the Government will make some concessions to farmers.
“We have already received permission to import 3rd and 4th grade fertiliser,” the State Minister assured.
