President Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to travel to the UK next weekend to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, The Sunday Morning learns.
The President’s Office is currently making the necessary arrangements in coordination with the Sri Lankan High Commission in London.
A highly-placed Government source said that the President was likely to meet with members of the British Government during his brief visit.
The President is expected to travel to London a day prior to the funeral and depart the day after the funeral.
Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Thursday (8) at Balmoral Castle, Scotland.
The funeral is to take place on 19 September. The Sri Lankan Government has declared it a day of national mourning.
