President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa took to twitter to express his sentiments over the passing of legendary musician and leader of the Gypsies musical outfit Sunil Perera.
“It is a great loss for Sri Lanka’s entertainment scene as veteran musician Sunil Perera passed away. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Sri Lanka. May he rest in peace.” the President stated.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapksa remarked that the entertainment industry in Sri Lanka will never be the same.
“The entertainment arena in Sri Lanka will never be the same without you. My deepest condolences to the family and friends of the legendary entertainer Sunil Perera. You will be remembered forever through your music. Rest In Peace.” the Prime Minister said.
Perera passed away early this morning (06) after being admitted to a private hospital for treatment last night (05). In early August, Perera was diagnosed with Covid-19 and was hospitalised. However, he was discharged after recovering.
