Schools in Gampaha and Kalutara to reopen on Feb. 15

The Health authorities have granted approval for all schools in the Gampaha and Kalutara districts to reopen on 15 February, Education Minister G. L. Pieris today said. Further, out of the 492 schools in the Colombo district, 412 schools have been declared safe to reopen by the Provincial Coordinating committee. "The proposal to reopen these schools will be presented to the Director General of Health Services and permission will be obtained by health authorities to take necessary action to reopen schools in Colombo," the Minister said. It was revealed that all schools in the areas of Thimbirigasyaya, Kolonnawa, Homagama, Kesbewa, Dehiwala, Moratuwa and Seethawaka had been declared safe to reopen. Further, he stated that all schools islandwide will reopen on March 15.
