The Minister of Education G L Pieris stated that smart classrooms with the provision of English language literacy will be provided to all schools by the year 2022.
He stated this at an awareness programme for principals of 200 schools in the Southern Province under the island-wide English Friendly Classes Project, which was developed in conjunction with modern technology with the aim of enhancing English learning skills in school children.
So far, more than 500,000 students from 852 schools islandwide have joined the programme, he stated. This programme has already been implemented in schools in the North, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Central Provinces.
