Sunny Side Up: Dilum’s solution to LPG crisis

09 Jan 2022

State Minister Dilum Amunugama has urged the Government to facilitate more Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) companies in the market to avoid the supply issues that have currently arisen due to the LPG duopoly in the country. “A Government company is needed to import LPG. The distribution is a different matter. The current problem in supply delays is created due to some business problems and interests. The Government is getting scolded for this, but the Government needs a company to import LPG. The Government is aware of this and those steps will be taken properly through the Trade Ministry this year. When two companies have a duopoly in the market, these kinds of problems are created. We should have allowed four or five other companies enter this industry to avoid these present issues,” Amunugama has told the media recently.
