Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) member, former MP Hirunika Premachandra has urged SJB General Secretary MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara not to allow SJB MPs Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara, who had defected to the Government, back in to the party under any circumstance.
Premachandra has noted in a letter that both Fernando and Nanayakkara had betrayed the party and violated its decision by joining the Government. She has also called on the SJB General Secretary not to allow the two dissident SJB MPs to return to the party and contest under its banner at future elections since they (Fernando and Nanayakkara) had been suspended from the party.
However, the SJB had stated that it had initiated disciplinary inquiries against Fernando and Nanayakkara over their defection to the Government.
It is in such a backdrop that SJB MP Rajitha Senaratne had questioned the party leadership over the double standards being applied to the party MPs.
