While many politicians, both government and opposition, were engaged in celebrating the Sinhala and Tamil New Year the traditional way, Opposition and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa opted to celebrate the auspicious occasion in a different manner.
Premadasa, together with his wife Jalani Premadasa, decided to spend the New Year with the poor families in Premadasa’s electorate.
The couple had made their way to the Detagamuwa area in Kataragama and distributed sacks of rice among the families.
