The Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopal Baglay wished all Sri Lankans a peaceful and meritorious Vesak festival and implored all citizens of the country to support each other and unite during this festival to battle the worldwide pandemic.
On behalf of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the High Commissioner wished all Sri Lankans a peaceful Vesak and stated that while Sri Lanka and India were twinned in religions, the two countries also share the same visions.
It was also reminded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had attended the fourteenth International Vesak Day held in 2017 as the Chief Guest. Baglay maintained that such ties were important as ever during their fight against the pandemic.
