W.A. De Silva Mawatha to become four-lane road

  • Congestion in Colombo to be eased along with Pamankada Bridge widening
W.A. De Silva Mawatha, which runs from Pamankada junction to Wellawatte, is to be widened into a four-lane road, stated Chief Government Whip and Minister of Highways Johnston Fernando yesterday (27). Minister Fernando said this project will help ease the traffic along Sri Sambuddhathva Jayanthi Mawatha (Havelock Road). “We have already widened the Parmankada Bridge, which had helped ease the traffic in Kohuwala and Parmankada. The W.A. De Silva Mawatha widening project will ease traffic along Sri Sambuddhathva Jayanthi Mawatha further,” the Minister added. The project will cost Rs. 210 million, according to the Minister. After the widening of the Pamankada Bridge, a one-way section of the Colombo-Horana Road had been opened for two-way traffic.
